Seminar on “Union Budget 2018-2019-Expectations & Outcome”

A seminar on “Union Budget 2018-2019-Expectations & Outcome” was organized by the Department of Management- HRM & IB on 6th February, 2018. Experts from Industry and Academia were invited to share their valuable inputs and insights related to the Union Budget 2018-19. The session was kept open for the students where they can ask their queries and discuss about the various sectors affected by Budget.

The seminar began with Lamp lighting, followed by floral greetings of the Panel experts by the Faculty of Commerce and Management. Dr M.K. Sharma, then took over the proceedings of the panel discussion as the moderator.

The first speaker was Mr. Abhishek Mishra director (Finance) of Trimurty Group in Jaipur. He addressed the base of Budget 2018-19 i.e. ‘Ease of Living’. He enlightened students about the winners and the looser and also discussed about the scope of those sectors in the light of ‘Future Placements’.

The second speaker was CA Rohan Sogani, who is a Chartered Accountant and partner in R.Sogani & Associates, Jaipur. Shri Sogani acquainted the students with different aspects of tax amendments in the light of Union Budget 2018-19. He mentioned the role of direct taxes, and discussed about changes in the income tax provisions and TDS provisions for Trust & Education Institutions in Budget 2018-19. He threw light on different reasons of budget planned in this manner emphasizing more upon the process of digitalization.

The last speaker was Prof. Vijay Vir Singh, an eminent personality in the field of Economics. Presently he is the director NITI Aayog Chair and Professor at Dept. of Economics, University of Rajasthan Jaipur. Vijay Vir Singh ji explained the major differences between the previous and Current Union Budget. He also provided students with useful insights into the background of Budget. He talked about the Fiscal Policies and three major pillars of economy i.e. Agriculture, Manufacturing sector and infrastructure. He highlighted the facts that how saving money on individual levels makes an economy sustain the depressions. He also strongly made the fact that as the government jobs are shrinking and we must be more aware about different aspects present globally.

The floor was then opened for question answer session. Students raised many questions to the panel experts which were answered by the experts in very simple way. In the end, vote of Thanks was proposed by Dr Mahima Rai, Associate Professor (Department of HRM & IB). The seminar ended on a good note and was followed by refreshments for all.

It can be concluded that the seminar successfully achieved its objective of making students aware about the Budget 2018-19.  And the worth full insights of eminent personalities gave students a platform to increase their knowledge and enhance their abilities to understand the diversities of market.
