Name of the Resource Person: Simran Choraria - Teach & Expansion Manager at U&I NGO, Subhajeet Debnath, Manager, U&I NGO.

Objective of the Event: The objective of the activity was to highlight the role of NGO in Community Engagement Services.

Description: Department of Management, IIS (deemed to be university) organised a Guest Lecture Program for Post Graduate students on 16th September 2022. Day 13 of the session was started with the Guest Lecture by Simran Choraria and Subhajeet Debnath. Simran Choraria - Teach & Expansion Manager at U&I NGO. She Resides in Bangalore and manages the cities Ahmedabad & Vadodara. She works on expanding U&I and setting up home bases in different cities & states in India. She has always been passionate about social work,  worked with several government schools, orphanages, old age homes as well as the welfare of pourakarmikas. She started teaching kathak (a dance form) at the age of 15. Is also a freelance content writer and a theatre artist.

 

Subhajeet Debnath - Is currently working at U&I as a manager and manages 2 cities - Jaipur and Kolkata. Also manages the vertical Monitoring Evaluation & Learning. He has completed masters in Sociology from Presidency University Kolkata. He has also worked with Contact based as a field executive where he worked in various projects like WSAF (Women Safety Accelerator Fund).

The session was started by Subhajeet Debnath where he started with a small fun activity that was based on rearranging the jumble sentences to boost up our mind and then the session was further carried on by Simran Choraria where she explained about  the importance of quality education which we are getting with digital sources which makes things easy to learn and at the other hand if we talk about  those students they are lacking quality of education  and digital source so U&I is helping them for a better education and lifestyle.  They are providing them tution classes, Access to technology  etc they also told there achievements, also how we can contribute like by teaching, volunteering or being a leader. And at the end they asked us to fill up a Google form to be in contact with them.

Outcome of the event: The session was very informative. The students gained knowledge about the role played by NGO in Community Engagement and how students can work for the betterment of society by volunteering.
