Information: Concept, Attributes, Classification (action vs. no-action, recurring vs. non-recurring information, internal vs. external, organizational, functional, knowledge, decision-support, operational), methods of information collection, Decision-making concept, Simon’s model of decision-making, MIS & decision- making
Information System for Decision-making: Classification of MIS (TPS, MIS, DSS, EIS, OASs, BESs).
Computer hardware for information system: Introduction- Basics of data representation, types of computers, basic components of computer system, factors to buy a PC
Computer software for information system: Introduction- programming languages, classification of software, role of software in problem solving, criteria for investment in hardware & software.
System: system concepts, system control, types of system. System analysis and design: introduction, need for system analysis and design, introduction to SDLC, system development model (protyping). Managing Human Resource Information System (HRIS): Organizing data personnel audit and personnel research.
Application of HRIS using data model : introduction ,performance appraisal, training need identification, Applications of HRIS in personnel management, production, marketing management.
