Objective of the activity:

To promote good health among students by making them aware about benefits of practising Yoga and motivating them to make it a part of their daily routine.

Summary

Yoga is a journey of discovering self. It incorporates breathing exercises, meditation and poses designed to encourage relaxation and reduce stress. Practicing yoga is said to come with many benefits for both mental and physical health. There is no doubt about the importance of Yoga for students. Its benefits are linked to all aspects, namely physical, mental and spiritual. An everyday practice will, therefore, result in improved posture, improvement in lung capacity, boosting memory, and help build up a state of mind while discovering the innermost potential.

The session began with a beautiful demonstration of Yoga asanas through dance by students of Department of Physical Education. After this enthralling performance, session was taken over by Ms Janki Pareek. Ms Pareek has been teaching Yoga and has been associated with our University since past 10 years. She explained and taught some very simple and useful breathing techniques, postures and exercises to benefit students in their daily routine. All participants enthusiastically participated in the event.

Outcome of the activity: Students learnt some very simple and useful exercises which can be performed on a daily basis for their better physical and mental health.
